For many of us, our work lives now depend upon the health and longevity of our devices. Especially our trusty PC or laptop computers, so how do we know when our Pc or Laptop hardware might be failing?
Meaning that when an issue crops up, it can cause a touch of a crisis, which is why we felt our readers could use some tips to ascertain what the issue could possibly be.
Yeah, a reputable PC computer or laptop repair company (like us!) will either offer free diagnostics or waive the value if you stick with the company for repairs, but sometimes you don’t want to wait to ascertain what the issue is.
Here’s how home diagnostics work…
If you’ve got a PC or Laptop on Windows 10.

With any PC computer or laptop running Windows 10 we have two diagnostic tools, one for system tests and one for memory tests. The primary is named Performance Monitor and may be easily displayed by a fast Cortana search.
The window that pops up will have a left navigation menu, where you’ll navigate to Reports>System>System Diagnostics>[Computer Name].
You’ll find an in depth description of checks on your hardware, software, CPU, network, disk, and memory, alongside an extended list of detailed statistics.
To test the RAM specifically, you’ll want to run Windows Memory Diagnostic. Press Windows+R to open the run window, type “mdsched.exe” within the field and press enter.
Windows will prompt you to restart your computer, to enable the test to run, it will then show you the results when the device reboots.
If the results don’t appear automatically, you’ll also find them by right-clicking on the Start button, choosing Event Viewer, then navigating within the new window to Windows Logs > System to seek out the foremost recent file called Memory Diagnostic.
If you’ve got a Mac on IOS Operating System.

To run hardware diagnostics for Apple products, you start by shutting down your computer and unplugging everything from its ports, except any of the subsequent which apply: mouse, keyboard, display, Ethernet, and power cord.
Then restart the pc and immediately press and hold the D key. Release when a progress bar or language choice option appears.
(If you have already got a tool with Apple Silicon, the method may be a bit different: press and hold the facility button, release once you see the startup options window, then press Command-D on the keyboard.)
After the progress bar has completed, Apple will show the diagnostic results on your screen, including one or more reference codes for specific issues, which you can also check here. Restart your Mac once these are recorded.
If you would like to research service options, you’ll also click on the ‘Get Started’ link on the diagnostics result screen to be taken to a webpage with more information regarding Apple Certified repair technicians just like us.
Running these simple tests on your devices can prevent tons of your time and worry within the end of the day (for example, if your problem seems to be associated with software, you won’t need to speak to a hardware specialist like Best Computer Repair).
