If you thought that Windows Vista was already dead in the water and you also wouldn’t toss it a lifeline, you can probably disregard this post. However, if any of your computers are still operating on Visa – you might want to read on.
The much-criticised operating system launched a decade ago, but it has been struggling along all this time, annoying many users and finally Microsoft has declared that they are eliminating the operating system along with support and updates.
Following Windows XP, the most successful version of Windows of all time, Windows Vista was plagued with a negative review and declined by most corporates. Despite its lack of popularity, industry experts report that around 0.78% of devices are still operating the much hated operating system.
The announcement by Microsoft means that no further improvements will be provided, which means that as time passes, the operating system will be packed with holes and be a serious risk of security by making it a lot easier for hackers to target.
Furthermore, the inbuilt anti-virus app, Security Basics, won’t receive posts and new trojan definitions, so users should be extremely careful, particularly if the computer is online – and who isn’t online nowadays?
So, what exactly are your alternatives if Glass windows Vista continues to be on your pc?
One option is nothing, as your personal computer will still work. However, it will inevitably and quite quickly become more unstable and unusable, as hardware manufacturers will continue steadily to revise and optimise their devices for newer versions of Windows.
This means increasingly more applications and devices simply won’t work on your computer if you don’t upgrade. Furthermore, your computer could be more susceptible to risks and viruses, so be especially careful if you store personal or sensitive information.
Another option is to buy Windows 10, the latest version of Glass windows. You might find that your present computer will have a problem with Windows 10, as the latest specifications are a lot good greater than that for Vista.
You’ll need at least 16 to 20Gb of free space on your hard disk drive, at least 1Gb (ideally 2Gb) of Memory, and a screen image resolution of at least 800 x 600 pixels. That’s just to run windows so building a computer around what you do be it work or gaming it will increase a lot.
