For us geeks, there are not many other things more frustrating than your computer running slow…
Watching the site page takes those additional minutes to load, watching…staring at the clock timer, or trusting that the words you type, will eventually, in this lifetime, catch up with your fingers.
In our experience, it’s a likely motivation behind why many dispose of their computer or laptop.
Yet, there are things you can do that should be possible to enhance, maybe even give your PC an additional year, or more, of life.
Here are a few tips I recommend improving the speed of your desktop or laptop computer, who knows, possibly even gain extra life out of your older machine.

1. Check for viruses or malware regularly.
Yes, I know boring!… we all know we need antivirus now it’s 2021… BUT We all have antivirus, most of us have it run in the background seamlessly.
However, if it’s not up-to-date or run regularly it can sometimes be the cause of your computer running slow, especially as it’s constantly scanning what we are doing to protect us.
So try to run it manually often for protection but also keep it up to date, so it has the latest software version. By doing this, it then has less work to do or, in geek terms, fewer resources being wasted.
Also keep in mind, many domestic antivirus software programs can be a little resource hungry. So if you are looking to speed up your system, maybe look into a lighter version that leaves less of a footprint on your computer or laptop.
2. Limit or remove startup entries.
It’s not uncommon to see various program’s startup the minute you boot your PC or laptop computer. In spite of that reality, you don’t really need those programs to startup with your computer all the time, not to mention this is a waste of resources.
Changing the startup program settings within your system configuration will change which programs that automatically start when your computer turns on, along these lines, sparing significant assets.
To do this, you can always download and install a great program called Advanced System Care Pro
3. Check your solid-state or hard drive capacity.
In the event that you are getting close to the 90% limit of your hard drive, this can be another cause for your computer running slow.
Assuming this is the case, have a go at deleting undesirable documents, for example, copied photographs or music along with videos that you do not really need, or can download again in the future on your PC or laptop computer,
4. Deleting bloatware.
Numerous laptop or desktop PCs leave the manufacturing plant with an array of software preinstalled that the client neither requires, nor wants.
Added to this present, it’s not unforeseen to gather advanced bloatware when introducing other programs the user does want on their PC or laptop computer,
Check for programs that you have never used, uninstalling them will additionally open up your storage, along with freeing up some memory use, hence speeding up your desktop computer or laptop.
5. Check you have enough RAM.
The measure of RAM (Random Access Memory) required by clients has expanded throughout the years with more demands like gaming, social media and music all at the same time…
Oh, it’s just us geeks? Haha, you know we play Warcraft while listening to music, and browsing Facebook now!… well when we are not being highly professional of course 😛
Anyway, moving on, it isn’t unprecedented for computer system manufacturers to spare a couple of pounds by keeping system RAM to the base minimum on a PC or laptop computer.
For a little investment, it may be worth upgrading your RAM to enhance your machine’s overall performance.
6. Consider a Solid State Drive.
Standard hard drives have moving parts, this makes them less robust, not to mention slower. Stronger Solid State Drives (SSD) are electronic, making them a lot quicker.
Therefore, not just a good investment, but a SSD will also improve your computer boot up or loading screen speeds dramatically along with prolong the life of your laptop or desktop computer.
