Windows 10 Upgrade System Requirements
You may have seen our previous post about How to download windows 10 for FREE
However, before you continue your Windows 10 Upgrade, you must first ensure that your computer has the capacity to enable upgrading to Windows 10.
If your personal computer is running Windows 8.1, you should have no issue. Here are the state system requirements for Windows 10:
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor
- Ram Memory: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-tad or 2 GB for 64-bit
- Hard disk drive space: 16 GB for 32-tad Operating-system 20 GB for 64-tad OS
- Graphics credit card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
- Screen: 800×600
You’ll find one’s specs by heading to the Start button and typing msinfo32.exe into the search box.
However, you should think about creating a backup image of windows 7 or windows 8 installed prior to doing the upgrading to windows 10.
An Image is a snapshot of your complete disk you can use as a way to save your computer in the event you decide you don’t like Windows 10 after an upgrade or if the upgrade or Windows 10 installation goes wrong or even breaks your personal computer.
There are user-friendly programs out there such as Ashampoo Pro
You can even take this possibility to upgrade to a SOLID STATE HARD DISK DRIVE. SSDs have come down in cost and can be an affordable way to super-charge your personal computer.
If you opt to go to this course, use Ashampoo Pro to make a clone of your existing windows 7 or windows 8 machine.
A clone can be an exact duplicate of your partition.
Next, take away the old spinning hard drive and put in the SSD. Now you can perform the update on the SSD and also have a safe backup of your old install on the spinning drive.
Once you have followed all the above just simply run the Windows 10 disk you downloaded for FREE from our other guide here and follow the prompts to install windows 10.

You might immediately find some things aren’t working when Windows 10 installs for the very first time.
Maybe the design is off or possibly your printer no longer prints. The very first thing you must do after updating to Windows 10 is run windows update.
This may download any new Windows 10 drivers your computer may be missing. To run Windows Update from Windows 10, go to the search box near the Start button and type Windows Update.
It is also a good idea to use an aftermarket device driver update utility such as Iobit Driver Booster you can find here for free in our video on youtube.
