Often, Windows 10 Update (Or 11) can restart your computer without any warning…
If we are not in front of the screen at the moment Windows 10 update pops up, or even worse classed as tabbed out of your Windows operating system, Windows 10 can install updates then automatically restart your computer.
This usually happens right in the middle of playing a full screen game like COD, Warzone, Fortnite etc, on your gaming computer on top of that there is a risk of losing all the files that we might not have saved -_-
To keep your PC from restarting to perform a Windows 10 or 11 Update:
To avoid your computer from restarting after a Windows 10 update, you can perform the following steps:
- Open the Run command (Win + R), in its type: gpedit.msc and press enter.
- Navigate to: Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Update.
- Open this and change the Configure Automatic Updates setting to ‘2 – Notify for download and notify for install’
- Enjoy knowing your game or YouTube video and the mass of selfies will be saved!
Something like the image below, depending on what version of the operating system you are running on your computer or laptop, as to how to disable updates.
While a Windows update is important, there is nothing worse than your operating system restarting at an inconvenient time on your computer or laptop, such as immersed in your favourite game or concentrating on some work documents.
The steps above will still allow Windows Updates to continue installing automatically, but they will only be installed the next time you restart or turn on your pc computer or laptop.
